On January 24, 2025, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hieu Giang was officially appointed as President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE), marking a milestone after more than three years without an official leader. His appointment reflects trust and unity within the university, ensuring a stable and promising future.
Born in 1972 and an alumnus of HCMUTE, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hieu Giang earned his PhD from the Czech Technical University in Prague in 2003. Over two decades, he has held various leadership roles at HCMUTE, including Vice President, Dean of multiple faculties, and Acting President from 2022 until his official appointment. His deep understanding of the university's culture and vision has guided it through challenging times, maintaining its status as a leading technical institution in Vietnam.
Accompanying him is a dynamic leadership team, including Dr. Truong Thi Hien, President of the University Council, and newly appointed Vice Presidents Dr. Quach Thanh Hien and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chau Dinh Thanh. Together, they aim to implement innovative strategies, foster international collaboration, and position HCMUTE as a leader in education, research, and technology.
The appointment opens a new era of growth and stability, propelling HCMUTE toward its goal of becoming one of Vietnam’s top technical universities.
