September, 2016: The Industrial Engineering department has been renamed Welding & Metal Technology opening a new step.

2015 Department of Industrial Engineering

July, 2015: The Metal technology department has been renamed Department of Industrial Engineering.

1985: Department of Metal Technology

Thu Duc University of Technical Education was amalgamated with Thu Duc Industrial Vocational School to become the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education. The Department of Casting and Heat Treatment was renamed Department of Metal Technology.

1978: Department of Casting and Heat Treatment

September, 1978: Officially established the Department of Casting and Heat Treatment under supervision of Faculty of mechanical engineering.

1976: Iron Technology Committee

The predecessor of the Department of Industrial Engineering was the Iron Technology Committee.

October, 1976: Iron Technology Committee combined with Machine-Tool Committee to become Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
